THE HIGH ROAD - PROPOSAL

Project Type: Internship
Position: Editor/AE Animator
Timeline: December - February 2019
Programs Used: Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects
The High Road is a video proposal for a monorail through Maryland, Virginia, and DC along I-270. The goal of the monorail is to alleviate traffic on 270 which is truly awful at basically all times of the day. Environmental laws and regulations make it all but impossible to just add more lanes or more bridges across the Potomac. The main selling point of the monorail is that it can be built along the highway's existing right of way, meaning they wouldn't have to deal with all those laws.
Interface partnered with the High Road Foundation to create a video that they could both display on their website and show to government officials and committees. By the time I started working on the project the first cut was done, but the client wanted to change many aspects of it, as well as create three cuts of the video instead of one. The full cut, which is about 20 minutes long, and then two smaller cuts focusing on just I-270 and then on just the environmental impact on the watershed that are each around 10 minutes long.
In short, what I did on this project was I acted on the client's feedback and created the final cut of the full version combined with a new voiceover, and I split the video up into two totally different cuts focused on different aspects of the project.
Unfortunately, only the I-270 cut is public as of now, I'll post the other two cuts when they're made public.
RECEPTION
The video was actually pretty successful. The story received a good amount of media coverage and the state is now funding further research into the project, so it may actually be something of a possibility now.
