Newswatch is a live weekly news show broadcast twice a week covering news in Ithaca and Tompkins County NY. In the spring of 2019 I was asked to be a tech producer since I'd already redesigned the Newswatch graphics.
One of my duties was overseeing the assistant producers in pre-production and leading them in creating all of the material for the Thursday show. This meant graphics, reporter packages, cutting B-Roll footage and more. I would then take all the videos and ingest them into the server, and then move all the graphics into the Chyron.
After this I would also be in charge of checking out the studio, and directing its setup. This meant making sure we got all the mics, the lighting was setup, the cameras were working, all the control room equipment was working, etc.
After the show, I was also in charge of making sure everything was taken down correctly and returned to Master Control, and then editing the footage and submitting it to the website after the broadcast. Basically, I oversaw all technical aspects of the show.
Besides Tech Producing, I also ran Chyron and was the Assistant Director for Newswatch.
