LCS WRITING/TAPE PRODUCING
Position: Writer/Tape Producer
Timeline: May 2022 - Present
After graduating college I accepted a job on the LCS at Riot Games as a Writer and Tape Producer where I worked on the broadcast every week in some combination of the two positions, including at the Summer Finals at the United Center in Chicago, where I was part of the team working on the Opening Ceremonies for each day of broadcast.
For the Finals I was responsible for researching and assisting in the writing of the LCS Legends Walkout, a 10th anniversary homage to the greatest players in LCS history where they would walk the trophy out to the stage on Saturday before the Championship started along with our Lead Writer Katie. The script can be seen in real-time in the video above.
As a writer week to week I was responsible for creating, updating and managing rundowns for the entire production crew, setting narratives in story meetings and working with talent and producers to write dynamic pre and postgame content for broadcast along with various scripts, segments and sponsor obligations for air.
As a tape producer week to week I worked with an EVS operator, a Live Editor and an dedicated Observer to coordinate and QC all video packages and game highlight reels for broadcast. I also worked as a segment producer helping create more video packages leading up to Gamedays.
For the Finals I was a part of the Opening Ceremony since the beginning of the split. Due to my knowledge of LCS history I created spreadsheets and helped select what important historical clips they'd use in the first of the OC. Come the actual day of the show as the one Tape Producing in the EVS room I was responsible for making sure we hit "play" at the correct time and all the video assets lined up seamlessly.
